Privacy policy
Last updated: 20 October 2026
This policy explains what personal information builduo collects, why, and what you can do about it.
builduo is run by Builduo Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number [COMPANY NUMBER]), registered office [REGISTERED OFFICE]. We’re the “controller” of the information described here, registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) under number [ICO REGISTRATION NUMBER]. Contact: hello@builduo.co.uk.
1. Who this covers
Builders who use builduo; their clients (homeowners and businesses) who are invited to a job; people who apply to be founding builders or visit the website.
2. What we collect
- Builders: name; email address; business type and main trade; company name, number, status and registered office (some filled from the public Companies House register); trading name and address; VAT number; logo; insurance details (insurer, cover, expiry dates) and any certificate you upload; quote defaults (payment terms, deposit, defects period, rates, CIS status); terms documents you upload.
- Jobs: job name and site address; client names and email addresses (added by the builder); contract amounts, payment stages, extras, credits and payments; questions, notes and replies; acceptance and sign-off records; a history of who did what and when.
- Clients: your name and email address (given to us by your builder when they invite you), and anything you do on the job — accepting, approving, asking questions, signing off.
- Founding builder applications: name, business name, email, phone number, rough number of jobs a year.
- Technical: sign-in records (time, device/browser type and IP address, kept by our hosting provider for security), and basic visitor statistics from our hosting provider’s built-in analytics (pages viewed, referring site, browser and device type, rough country). This uses a short-lived anonymous session identifier that expires after 30 minutes; we don’t use advertising or cross-site tracking.
We don’t collect payment card details. builduo doesn’t hold or move money.
3. Why we use it, and the legal basis
- To provide builduo to builders (performance of our contract with you).
- To show clients the jobs they’ve been invited to and record what they agree (our legitimate interest, and the builder’s, in keeping an accurate shared record of the job; and, once you sign in, our terms with you).
- To send emails about your jobs — invitations, items waiting for you, replies, sign-offs, reminders (contract / legitimate interests). These are service emails; we don’t send marketing without your consent.
- To reply to founding builder applications (legitimate interests / steps before a contract).
- To keep builduo secure, prevent misuse and fix problems (legitimate interests).
- To meet legal obligations, such as tax and accounting records once we charge fees (legal obligation).
4. Who can see it
- On a job: the builder and every client they’ve invited to that job can see the job’s figures, items, notes and history, plus the builder’s business details, logo, company and VAT numbers and insurance summary. Clients never see the builder’s insurance certificate file, and builders’ other jobs stay private.
- Service providers who run builduo for us, under contract: Lovable (app platform and hosting, built on Supabase), data stored in the United States; Lovable’s built-in email service, which delivers our emails; Companies House (we send the company name or number you type to look you up). When we start charging, a payment provider will process billing details.
- Authorities or advisers when the law requires it, or to protect rights in a legal claim.
We don’t sell personal information.
5. International transfers
Our app data is stored in the United States. Transfers there are protected by the UK–US Data Bridge for certified US companies, or, where a provider isn’t certified, by the ICO’s International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.
6. How long we keep it
- Job records, including history: for 6 years after the job is signed off or last active, because builders and clients may need them as evidence of what was agreed. They can’t be edited or deleted by either side during that time.
- Builder accounts: while you use builduo; after you close your account we delete your profile, logo, certificate and unused data within 90 days, but keep job records shared with clients for the period above.
- Founding builder applications: 12 months if you don’t become a user.
- Sign-in and security logs: as long as our hosting provider keeps them, typically no more than 90 days.
7. Your rights
You can ask to see your information, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or receive a copy to move elsewhere. Some rights are limited for shared job records, because the other side of the job relies on them — we’ll explain if that applies. Email hello@builduo.co.uk. We’ll reply within one month.
8. Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, tell us first at hello@builduo.co.uk. We’ll acknowledge your complaint within 30 days, look into it and tell you the outcome. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, 0303 123 1113.
10. Children
builduo isn’t for anyone under 18.
11. Changes
We’ll update this page when things change and email builders about important changes. See also our Terms of service.
